Friends Village

Cultivating connection - A season of growth

Posted

There’s something about May that quietly nudges us outdoors—and maybe even into a slightly more ambitious version of ourselves. One minute you’re admiring a tulip, the next you’re considering raised garden beds and a sun hat you swear you’ll wear. At Friends Village, “home and garden” isn’t just about what’s planted—it’s about what’s taking root in your everyday life.

Because home should feel like more than a place to land. It should feel like a place that gently pulls you in—where laughter sneaks up on you, where familiar faces become meaningful connections, and where trying something new feels less like a risk and more like a small adventure.

If you’re curious what that looks like in real life (not brochure-life), our Open House on May 20 from 2–4 pm at the Styer Campus is a great place to start. Come wander, chat, and get a genuine feel for the rhythm of the community—no pressure, no sales pitch, just an open door.

This May, there’s plenty happening to keep both body and mind engaged. Our Spirit Rising Dance and Wellness six-week session begins, offering movement, energy, and a few “I didn’t know I could still do that” moments. For those more inclined toward mental fitness, Dr. Rajiv Vyas will lead a discussion on ways to support brain health—practical, thoughtful, and refreshingly approachable.

We’re also bringing back Senior Planet starting May 11, making technology feel far less intimidating and more useful. And through our continued partnership with WHYY, the Bridging Blocks conversation series returns with this month’s topic: Democracy and the American Dream—inviting reflection, perspective, and maybe even a respectful debate.

At Friends Village, growth doesn’t follow a strict plan—it unfolds naturally. It might look like learning something new, meeting someone unexpected, or simply feeling more at ease.

Visit our website, follow along on social media, like, share—and stop by to see us. And since we’re always adding new programs and events, check back often. Around here, there’s always something new taking shape.
