"Native Orchids of Pennsylvania and New Jersey" will be the featured program of the Trevose Horticultural Society's meeting on Tuesday, February 10, at 7 pm at the Bensalem Senior Center, 1850 Byberry Rd. in Bensalem.
Bob Sprague, charter member and past president of the Native Orchid Conference, as well as long-time director and past president of the South Eastern Pennsylvania Orchid Society (SEPOS), will discuss the Orchids of Pennsylvania and the New Jersey Pine Barrens.
The Mid-Atlantic region is home to a surprising number of native orchids. Although most are threatened or endangered, some are colorful and flamboyant as well as small and inconspicuous. Sprague’s presentation employs close-up views with the magic of macro-photography. You will also learn about the amazing life histories of some of these fascinating plants
Bob and his wife Amy travel extensively in pursuit of orchids and birds, growing tropical orchids in a home greenhouse. Bob has been co-chairman of the SEPOS orchid show for many years.
