Bucks County Drug & Alcohol Commission, Inc. (BCDAC, Inc.) has been supporting individuals, families, and communities impacted by substance use since 1973. As Bucks County’s designated Single County Authority (SCA) for alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, BCDAC, Inc. connects residents to prevention, treatment, and recovery services across the county.

Preventing substance use and reducing overdose are central to the Commission’s work. BCDAC, Inc. funds prevention programs for youth in schools, after-school programs and community settings, as well as educational programs for adults and older adults. Key initiatives include the Medication Take Back Program, which promotes safe disposal of unused or expired medications through biannual events and year-round drop boxes, as well as sharps disposal boxes at five of the county’s six hospitals. BCDAC, Inc. also provides free Narcan nasal spray to Bucks County residents. Narcan, the first FDA-approved nasal form of naloxone, can help reverse a known or suspected opioid overdose, giving individuals and families a critical, life-saving tool in an emergency.

For those seeking treatment, the first step is a drug and alcohol assessment to determine the appropriate level of care. Uninsured or underinsured individuals can access assessments through BCDAC, Inc.’s contracted sites, while those with private insurance should contact the behavioral health phone number on their insurance card.

BCDAC, Inc. supports long-term recovery through programs like the Bucks County Recovery Residence Oversight Committee (BC-ROC), which oversees recovery houses and can provide short-term financial assistance to eligible individuals. The SOR Homeless Housing Grant helps individuals with opioid or stimulant use disorders secure safe housing and cover basic needs for up to six months.

Together, these programs reflect BCDAC, Inc.’s ongoing commitment to keeping Bucks County residents healthy and safe. For more information, visit www.bcdac.org or call 215-444-2700.
